Karahi Paneer in Brampton

Guest favourite at Friendz Dhaba

Karahi Paneer is our best-selling vegetarian curry in Brampton. Soft paneer cubes are tossed in a screaming-hot karahi with onion, tomato, green pepper and coarsely crushed coriander seed — a thick, clinging masala rather than a soupy gravy, exactly the way a Punjabi dhaba makes it.

About Our Karahi Paneer

A karahi is the deep, two-handled iron wok that gives this dish its name and its character. Cooking over a hard flame drives the moisture off fast, so the masala tightens around the paneer instead of pooling underneath it. That is why karahi paneer tastes so different from a creamy restaurant gravy — it is brighter, hotter and much more about the vegetables.

We use fresh paneer, quartered onion and green pepper cut chunky so they keep a bite, tomato cooked just until it collapses, and a masala we grind in-house with coriander seed, black pepper and dried red chilli. It is fully vegetarian and one of the most requested dishes on our menu for guests looking for Indian vegetarian food in Brampton.

What Makes Our Karahi Paneer Different

Everything is cooked to order. The paneer is never boiled ahead of time and left sitting, the peppers go in late so they stay crisp, and the masala is finished with julienned ginger and fresh coriander off the heat. If you want it hotter, say so — this is a dish that takes chilli well.

How to Serve Karahi Paneer

Because the masala is thick, breads work better than rice: garlic tawa naan, butter naan or an aloo paratha. Pair it with Dal Makhani for a fully vegetarian table, or with Butter Chicken if the group is mixed. A bowl of raita balances the heat.

What Guests Say About Our Karahi Paneer

Simran G.

Queen Street Corridor

“Finally a kadai paneer that is not swimming in cream. The peppers still had crunch and the masala was properly dry and spicy. This is what I grew up eating.”

“I am vegetarian and this is now my default order. Big portion, generous with the paneer, and the roti comes hot. Great value for what you get.”

“Ordered delivery for four of us. The karahi paneer held up really well and still tasted freshly cooked. Asked for extra spicy and they actually made it spicy.”

Is Karahi Paneer vegetarian?

+

Yes. Karahi Paneer is fully vegetarian — paneer, onion, tomato, green pepper and ground spices, cooked in a separate pan from our meat dishes. It is one of the most popular vegetarian dishes at our Brampton dhaba.

What is the difference between Karahi Paneer and Shahi Paneer?

+

Karahi Paneer is a thick, dry, pepper-forward masala cooked over high heat. Shahi Paneer is the opposite — a smooth, creamy, mildly sweet gravy. Order karahi if you want spice and texture, shahi if you want rich and mild.

How spicy is Karahi Paneer?

+

It is medium by default, with real warmth from crushed red chilli and black pepper. We can make it mild or extra hot — just tell us when you order.

Do you deliver Karahi Paneer around Brampton?

+

Yes. We deliver across Downtown Brampton, Fletchers Creek South, Brampton East, Avondale, Southgate and the surrounding neighbourhoods. Order online or call (365) 355-3303.
